Da Lat’s weather is one of this quaint town’s main attractions for travelers. Thanks to its hilltop location, Da Lat enjoys a consistently mild and cool climate throughout the year. Locals and expats living in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh often make their way here during holidays and long weekends.

Da Lat has two distinct seasons: a dry season from November to June and a lengthy rainy season from July to October. Situated at an altitude of 1500m and encompassed by hills, Da Lat always offers a mild and cool climate.

If you’re traveling to Da Lat during the rainy season, you will benefit from cheaper rates and fewer tourists. Despite the occasional showers and cold weather, you can still explore the town with many famous scenes. We highly recommend packing some long-sleeved clothing as night-time temperatures tend to hover at around 15°C.

In January, Da Lat experiences little rain and occasional light sunshine. Daytime temperatures range from 24 to 27°C, while nighttime temperatures drop to around 15 to 17°C, providing a chilly sensation, especially in the early morning. Travel tips for January include dressing warmly, particularly in the evening, and taking the opportunity to admire the most beautiful cherry blossoms of the year.

Moving on to February, the weather in Da Lat remains mild and warm during the day and chilly at night, with daytime temperatures ranging from 25 to 28°C and nighttime temperatures around 16 to 18°C. This period is an ideal time to experience spring, as various flowers start to bloom abundantly.

In March, Da Lat has mild and pleasant weather with many warm sunny days, light morning fog, and occasional sudden rain showers. The temperatures range from 26 to 28 degrees Celsius during the day and drop to 18 to 20 degrees Celsius at night. Travel advice for visiting Da Lat in March includes enjoying outdoor activities, exploring famous tourist spots such as the City Flower Garden, Lam Vien Square, and the Da Lat train station. Additionally, visitors can discover the magnificent natural beauty of the waterfalls in Da Lat, such as Datanla Falls, Pongour Falls, and Elephant Falls, as well as admire the vibrant flowers along the roadsides, including purple Phoenix flowers, colorful cosmos flowers, and sunflowers.

In April, Da Lat has pleasant weather with daytime temperatures of 27-29°C, minimal rain, and mist in the mornings and evenings. Travelers can enjoy serene mornings, visit strawberry gardens, and admire sunflower fields.

May sees stable weather with temperatures of 27-30°C, clear skies, and minimal rain. Visitors should beware of sudden afternoon showers and can enjoy the white mustard flower season at Ta Nung Pass and explore scenic spots like Cau Dat tea hills and the Valley of Love.

 

— June —

In June, Da Lat experiences transitioning weather with daytime temperatures ranging from 20 to 30°C, sudden midday rain showers, and chilly nights around 18 to 20°C. Visitors are advised to admire sunflower fields, lavender gardens, and enjoy the scenic views during June showers.

 

— July —

In July, Da Lat enters the rainy season, with irregular heavy rains, and average temperatures of 25 to 28°C during the day and 17 to 20°C in the evening. Travelers should be prepared for sudden and persistent rain.

 

— August —

In August, Da Lat experiences heavy rainfall with temperatures ranging from 27 to 29°C during the day and 18 to 20°C at night, often accompanied by morning and evening mist. Travelers are advised to relax and enjoy the rain at a homestay or café with beautiful views and explore the scenic buckwheat flower fields in Tà Nung, Lâm Hà, on the way to Elephant Waterfall.
